Copyright and your rights

What the box you tick before your first song means.

What you confirm

Before your first song you tick a box: I own this recording or have permission to use it. That covers two things: the recording itself, and the song in it (the composition). You confirm you own them, or that whoever does has allowed you to use them. You take responsibility for any claim that comes from a song you bring.

Your own recordings, music you bought as a download, and music you hold a licence for are fine. A file ripped from a streaming service is not: those licences don't allow it.

YouTube links

If you paste a YouTube link, we fetch the audio of that one video and treat it like an upload. The same confirmation applies: you need the rights to that recording. The link option can be off at times.

What we do with your song

One thing: we take the drums out and give the result back to you. We don't publish it, we don't share it with other users, we don't keep a catalogue, and we don't use it to train AI models. The file you bring is deleted within 2 hours; the two tracks and their links, within 6 hours. The full text is on How we handle your song.

If a rights holder objects

Write to support@upbeat.studio with the song and the rights you hold. We stop processing that song, delete what we have of it, and keep it from coming back.

In plain words
