How we check

  • Only what a school says about itself. Every fact comes from the school’s own site or another page it controls, with the date we last checked. How we measure prices
  • No paid placement. Where a city page picks one school per question, the rules are public and money can’t change them. How we choose
  • Fair to teachers. Being listed and claiming a listing are free, and ranking is never for sale. The teacher bill of rights

The lit states are the ones we have verified teachers in. The rest is dark because we have not been there yet, which is not the same as nobody teaching drums there.

Straight answers

Can adults take drum lessons?

Yes, and plenty of schools say so outright. Of the 344 schools and teachers we verified in 42 cities, 224 say on their own site that they teach adults. The most are in Austin (19), Houston (17) and Miami (16). A school that doesn't mention adults may still teach them, so ask.

Do drum teachers offer a trial lesson?

Some do, and it is worth asking even when a site doesn't say. Of the 344 schools and teachers we verified in 42 cities, 56 advertise a trial lesson on their own site, across 26 of the 42 cities. The most are in Austin (5), San Antonio (5) and Houston (4).

Can you take drum lessons online?

Yes. Of the 344 schools and teachers we verified in 42 cities, 152 publish online lessons as well as in person, so you can start from home with a real teacher. Video is fine for grooves and reading, and harder for grip and posture in the first months, which is where an in-person check helps.

How do you check a drum teacher is real?

We read each school's or teacher's own website, or another page the business controls, and publish only what it says there. Nobody pays to be listed or to rank, and a school we cannot confirm is not published. Every listing shows the date we last checked it.
