# Drumless tracks: every source compared, by what you need

Drumless tracks come from five very different places, and the right one depends on one question: do you already have a song in mind? If you do, an AI drum remover takes the drums out of the recording you own. If you want a library of songs you know, ready-made drumless versions and backing-track apps have them, some from the original recordings and some re-recorded. If you just want to play, practice grooves and play-along books are written for it. This page puts every kind in one table.

> Upbeat Studio makes one of the tools in this table, the free Drumless Tracks tool. It is not ranked anywhere on this page: it sits in the table with the same columns and the same criticism as every other row, and the picker never shortlists it. Where it does not fit, the page says so.

Checked on 2026-10-07. 16 tools. No prices on purpose: price models only, because prices change monthly.

## What you need, and what decides the pick

- **Any song I choose.** I have the song, I want the drums out of it. What decides it: separation quality on dense mixes, what is free and how often, and whether you can download the result.
- **Ready-made songs.** I want a library of drumless songs I already know. What decides it: original recording or re-recorded cover, how many of the songs you want are there, and how you pay.
- **Learn the part too.** I want to learn the drum part, not just jam. What decides it: a chart or notation with the track, tempo control and loops.
- **Practice grooves.** I want to work on time and feel, no particular song. What decides it: long tracks, click and no-click versions, and a spread of styles.
- **Free, no sign-up.** Free, no account, right now. What decides it: what is free and how much, ads, and whether you can keep the file.
- **Gig backing.** I rehearse or play without a band. What decides it: tempo and key change, setlists, and offline playback.

## One by one

### Moises

Moises Systems, Inc.. ai splitter, Web, iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, freemium. Free tier: Up to 5 uploads a month of files up to 5 minutes, split into 2 stems or 4 stems that include drums, with the synced click and chord detection limited to the first minute of each song and tempo changes limited to 10 BPM either way.

Moises splits any song you import into stems so you can mute the drums, solo them to study fills, slow the song down and play to a Smart Metronome click that stays synced to the song, even through tempo shifts. Know before choosing: the free plan stops at 5 uploads a month of files up to 5 minutes, and the synced click covers only the first minute of a song unless you pay.

- Best for: Any song I choose, Gig backing
- Not for: Drummers who want to practice offline or process more than a handful of songs a month without paying.
- Someone does it better: SoundBoost has no daily or monthly cap on free splits and accepts YouTube links, while the Moises free plan stops at 5 uploads a month.

### LALAL.AI

OmniSale GmbH. ai splitter, Web, iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, freemium. Free tier: The Starter plan lets you split a small number of minutes and preview the drums and no-drums stems, but downloading the full result needs a paid plan or minute pack.

LALAL.AI separates the drums from any audio or video file you upload and gives you two stems, the drums and everything else, which you can preview and then download together. Know before choosing: it is a general stem splitter with no click or tempo tools listed, and the free Starter plan only previews results, since downloading the full output needs a paid plan.

- Best for: Any song I choose
- Not for: Drummers who want a free full-length drumless download or built-in practice tools like a click and tempo control.
- Someone does it better: Moises adds a Smart Metronome click synced to the song and a speed changer, practice tools LALAL.AI does not list.

### Trackpeel

Trackpeel. ai splitter, Web, freemium. Free tier: A short in-browser preview of every stem with no account, and short MP3 sample downloads with a free account; full-length downloads need a day pass or plan.

Trackpeel lifts the kit out of a song you upload in the browser and gives you the drumless mix plus the original drum stem as lossless WAV or 320 kbps MP3, so you can A/B your take against the recording. Know before choosing: free use is a 30-second preview, or a 30-second MP3 sample with a free account, and Trackpeel says it has no tempo, metronome or other practice tools.

- Best for: Any song I choose
- Not for: Drummers who want to slow a song down, play to a click, or download a full track without paying.
- Someone does it better: Moises adds tempo control and a click synced to the song, practice tools Trackpeel says it deliberately leaves out.

### SoundBoost Drumless Tracks

DIKTATORIAL Inc. (SoundBoost). ai splitter, Web, iOS, Android, freemium. Free tier: Standard four-stem splits with a drums stem, the browser practice studio with mute, loop, tempo and an adaptive metronome, and MP3 stem downloads under a rolling daily allowance, with no account needed to start.

SoundBoost splits a song you upload, or link from YouTube or SoundCloud, into vocals, drums, bass and other, then opens it in a browser studio where you mute the drums, loop fills, change the tempo without changing pitch and play to an adaptive metronome that follows the song. Know before choosing: splitting and practice are free without a quota, but MP3 downloads have a rolling 24-hour allowance and a single mixed drumless file or WAV export needs a membership.

- Best for: Any song I choose, Free, no sign-up
- Not for: Drummers who want a free WAV or a single mixed drumless file, since those exports require a membership.
- Someone does it better: Drumeo Songs pairs each song with a professional drum transcription, while SoundBoost's chord view is built for guitar, piano and ukulele.

### Drumless Tracks by Upbeat Studio (made by Upbeat Studio, disclosed)

Upbeat Studio. ai splitter, Web, free. Free tier: All of it: full songs with the drums removed and the drums-only track, a click that follows the song one press away, and downloads of both tracks as MP3 or your mix as a WAV. One song a day without an email, three a day with one, no account.

Drumless Tracks takes an MP3 or WAV you upload, or a YouTube link when that option is on, and returns two tracks: the song without its drums and the drums on their own. A click that follows the song is one press away, and you can download both tracks as MP3 or your mix as a WAV, free and without an account. Know before choosing: this is Upbeat Studio's own lab experiment, files stop at 10 minutes, the track will not slow down for you, and on dense mixes you may still hear a bit of the drums, with cymbals the hardest part to remove.

- Best for: Any song I choose, Free, no sign-up
- Not for: Drummers who need to slow a song down, change its key, or split it into four or more stems.
- Someone does it better: Moises and SoundBoost split a song into four or more stems and change its speed and key, which this tool cannot do; its own page says that if you need a slower tempo or four stems, those apps are the better tool today.

### Drumeo Songs (Musora)

Musora Media Inc.. library, Web, iOS, Android, subscription. Free tier: A short free trial with full access to everything in Musora, then a monthly or annual membership.

Drumeo Songs gives a Musora member a large catalog of professionally transcribed songs with scrolling notation, a remove-the-drums switch so you are the drummer, tempo control and practice loops. Know before choosing: you can only play songs that are in Drumeo's catalog, and it is a subscription after a 7-day free trial.

- Best for: Ready-made songs, Learn the part too
- Not for: Drummers who want a drumless version of a song outside Drumeo's catalog, or who do not want a subscription.
- Someone does it better: Moises, SoundBoost and the other AI splitters work on any song you bring, where Drumeo Songs only covers its own catalog.

### Melodics (drums)

Melodics Limited. backing-track app, macOS, Windows, iOS, freemium. Free tier: A limited free plan after the desktop trial, and a set of free premium lessons on iPad (with a daily playtime cap) and iPhone (without one); full song lessons need a subscription.

Melodics turns songs into drum lessons: you play the part over a backing track of its own re-recorded covers, can turn the guide notes down so the drums are all yours, drop the BPM, loop sections and get real-time feedback on every hit from an e-kit, acoustic kit or pad. Know before choosing: the songs are Melodics' renditions, not the original recordings, and the app runs on Mac, Windows, iPad and iPhone but not Android.

- Best for: Ready-made songs, Learn the part too
- Not for: Android users, and drummers who want to play over the original recording rather than a re-recorded cover.
- Someone does it better: Drumeo Songs offers a larger self-reported catalog (2500+ drum songs against Melodics' 'hundreds') with professionally transcribed sheet music.

### Jamzone

Recisio. backing-track app, iOS, Android, macOS, freemium. Free tier: Unlimited play of a selection of rights-free songs, 45-second previews of the rest of the catalog, and the key, tempo and section-loop controls.

Jamzone plays studio re-recordings of songs as separate instrument tracks, so a drummer can mute the drum track, play with the bass, guitars and a metronome click, and slow the tempo to learn a part. The free plan plays full songs only from a selection of rights-free tracks; the full catalog, offline downloads and the licence for public performance need a paid plan.

- Best for: Ready-made songs, Gig backing
- Not for: Drummers who want the drums removed from a song outside the catalog, or a drum chart to read, since Jamzone offers neither.
- Someone does it better: Moises removes the drums from any song you upload, while Jamzone only covers songs it has re-recorded.
- App Store: 4.8 (9k) (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/jamzone-sing-play-along/id998972770)

### Karaoke Version Custom Backing Tracks

Recisio. library, Web, one-time. Free tier: A free section of custom backing tracks, such as traditional and holiday songs, that you can mix and download after signing up, plus short previews of paid songs.

Karaoke Version sells studio re-recordings of songs through a mixer where you mute the Drum Kit, keep or drop the Click track, add a count-in, and download your mix as an MP3 to keep. Tempo cannot be changed on the site, so slowing a song down means another program, which Karaoke Version itself points out.

- Best for: Ready-made songs, Gig backing
- Not for: Drummers who want to slow songs down while practising, since Karaoke Version says tempo cannot be changed on its website.
- Someone does it better: Jamzone, Recisio's own app, changes tempo inside the player and keeps tracks offline on phones and Mac, which Karaoke Version's website does not do for tempo.

### DrumlessVersion

DrumlessVersion.com (one-person operation). library, Web, one-time. Free tier: A Samples page that streams 18 drumless samples (our count on 2026-10-07), some full-length and some excerpts of about one minute; no free download is described.

DrumlessVersion sells a large library of drumless versions of well-known rock and pop songs, which it says are made from original multitracks with no AI, to stream or download through lifetime cloud access or to buy one song at a time by email. The rights behind it are unclear: the site calls the tracks '100% Licensed & Legal' and its licence allows commercial use, yet it names no label or publisher and is run by one person.

- Best for: Ready-made songs
- Not for: Drummers who need a documented licence before posting or releasing covers, since the site asserts its rights without naming any licensor.
- Someone does it better: Karaoke Version states plainly that its drumless tracks are re-recordings and spells out when live use needs a licence, a clearer rights picture than DrumlessVersion gives.

### Hal Leonard Drum Play-Along series

Hal Leonard. book, Print, Web, one-time. Free tier: Sample pages and a demo track and play-along track audio sample on the series page; the full audio needs the code inside a purchased book.

Each volume prints drum notation for a set of songs (eight in the volumes we opened) with online audio: a demo to hear the drum part and a separate backing track to play along, in a Playback+ player that slows the audio without changing pitch and loops sections. You only get the songs printed in that volume, and the audio is unlocked with the code inside the book.

- Best for: Learn the part too, Ready-made songs
- Not for: Drummers who want a particular song on demand, since each volume is a fixed list of songs.
- Someone does it better: Songsterr shows drum notation for a far larger catalog in one app, with synced original recordings for its most popular songs.

### Vic Firth Drum Set Play-Along Tracks

Vic Firth (The Avedis Zildjian Company). library, Web, free. Free tier: Everything: each track page links a no-drums MP3, on most tracks a second MP3 with drums or with a click, and usually a PDF drum chart, with no account or checkout (our check on 2026-10-07).

Vic Firth's education site hosts play-alongs from drummers such as Benny Greb, Peter Erskine and Stanton Moore, each with an MP3 without drums, on most tracks a second MP3 with drums or with a click, and usually a PDF chart of the drum part. The tracks are plain MP3 downloads, so slowing them down or looping a section means using your own player.

- Best for: Free, no sign-up, Learn the part too
- Not for: Drummers who want popular cover songs, since this is a few dozen tracks supplied by the artists rather than a hit-song library.
- Someone does it better: Hal Leonard's Playback+ slows the audio without changing pitch and loops sections, which the Vic Firth pages do not offer.

### Songsterr

Songsterr. tab player, Web, iOS, Android, freemium. Free tier: View and play back every tab with the built-in synthesized playback; muting your part, speed control and loop need the Plus subscription.

Songsterr shows drum tabs and drum notation synced to playback, and for its most popular songs Plus plays the original recording of the rest of the band with your part muted, slowed without changing pitch. For other songs, muting the drums leaves a synthesized band built from the tab, not the real recording.

- Best for: Learn the part too
- Not for: Drummers who want the real band recording without drums for any song, since backing tracks cover only the most popular songs and muting needs Plus.
- Someone does it better: Moises separates the drums from any song you upload, while Songsterr's original-recording backing tracks exist only for its most popular songs.

### Shedtracks

Shedtracks LLC. library, Web, iOS, freemium. Free tier: A few free drumless tracks and loop packs in the store (16 listed at no cost on 2026-10-07, our count) and a 7-day free trial of the app.

Shedtracks sells its own drumless tracks in pop, R&B, gospel, funk, hip hop and other styles, and each paid track comes with an MP3 with percussion, a drumless MP3 and a BPM-locked click track, plus a licence to post drum covers on social media. These are original productions, not famous songs, so it suits groove and content practice rather than learning a hit.

- Best for: Practice grooves, Ready-made songs
- Not for: Drummers who want to play along to famous songs, since Shedtracks sells its own productions.
- Someone does it better: Vic Firth gives artist play-alongs with PDF drum charts at no cost, while Shedtracks mentions no charts.

### OrlandoDrummer drumless loops

OrlandoDrummer (Adam Tuminaro). groove pack, Web, iOS, subscription. Free tier: A 14-day free trial of the All Access Membership, which streams the drumless loop library alongside the drum lessons.

OrlandoDrummer offers long drumless practice loops, about 9 to 13 minutes each, in styles from classic rock and metal to dubstep, trap and chill hop, sold as packs you can stream or download as MP3s, or streamed with the drum lessons in the All Access Membership. They are grooves to jam over for minutes at a time, not songs, and the listings mention no click, chart or tempo control.

- Best for: Practice grooves
- Not for: Drummers who want to learn a specific song, since the loops are long practice grooves rather than covers.
- Someone does it better: Shedtracks includes a BPM-locked click track with each paid track, which OrlandoDrummer's pack listings do not mention.

## What we found

### Your song or their catalog decides everything else

Six of the 16 sources in this table take the song you bring and remove its drums with an AI model. The other ten give you a catalog: whatever songs they have, in their versions. No catalog has every song, and no AI removal is as clean as a track mixed without drums, so the first question is not which is best but whether you need one particular song.

### Ready-made does not always mean the original recording

Songsterr plays what it calls synchronized original recordings, and Vic Firth's free play-alongs come from the artists who recorded them. Jamzone, Karaoke-Version and Melodics re-record their songs as covers, which is how they can mute any instrument. Shedtracks and OrlandoDrummer sell tracks written for practice, not songs. DrumlessVersion says its tracks are made from original multitracks with no AI; that is the vendor's claim, and we have not verified it. The Source column says which each one is.

### The free option with the drum part written out

Only four sources give you the drum part as notation alongside the track: Drumeo Songs, the Hal Leonard play-along books, Songsterr and Vic Firth. Vic Firth's is the free one: all 56 of its play-along pages offer a track without drums, and 52 of them a PDF drum chart, though only 32 include a version with the drums to check yourself against. The AI removers give you audio only, so pair them with a chart from elsewhere.

## How we checked

**Where the facts come from.** Every spec, feature tick and claim comes from the maker's own page, a store listing, a manual or a retailer's spec sheet, read on 2026-10-07, and the exact words relied on are kept with each row (open "Sources" on any card). Store ratings and review counts are the stores' own on that date, pulled through Sonar, an app-store analytics service. A feature is marked yes only when one of those sources says it; when none does, it is shown as unknown rather than as no.

**How it was checked.** Every row was researched once and then handed to a second, independent pass whose only job was to break it: open the same pages, check every spec, every tick, every rating and every quote. Rows it could not confirm were corrected, marked unknown, or dropped before publishing.

**What this page does not measure yet.** We have not run the same song through every drum remover and compared what is left of the drums. When we do, it will be with audio we are allowed to publish, and the method will be here. Until then, the Source column is the best guide to quality: a track mixed without drums sounds cleaner than one where the drums were removed afterwards.

**On rights.** Drum removers process music you bring; use them only on music you own or have permission to use. Ready-made libraries either license the songs or re-record them; the Source column says which.

**No prices.** Free quotas and plans change often. The table quotes what each vendor says is free, with the date; the vendor shows today's price.

## FAQ

### What are drumless tracks?

Songs with the drums taken out, so a drummer can play the part. They are made in three ways: mixed from the original recording without the drum tracks, re-recorded by session players without drums, or separated from the finished song by an AI model. The Source column says which each option uses.

### Where can I find free drumless tracks?

Free sources include drum-brand play-alongs, YouTube channels, the free tiers of AI drum removers, and a few groove packs. Free AI tiers limit how many songs or how many minutes you get; the Free column quotes each limit as the vendor states it.

### How do I remove the drums from a song?

Upload the song to an AI drum remover: it separates the drums from everything else and gives you the song without them, often with a drums-only track too. Quality is good enough to practice with on most songs; on dense mixes some of the cymbals stay audible.

### Are drumless tracks the original recording?

Sometimes. A few sellers make them from the original multitrack recordings, backing-track apps mostly re-record the songs, and AI removers work on the finished recording you bring. The Source column says which each one is.

### Can I remove the drums from a YouTube video?

Some tools accept a YouTube link and treat the audio like an upload; the YouTube column shows which. Use it only on music you have the right to use. When the link option is not available, upload the song file instead.
